How Travelling Boosts Personal Development?

Each journey is embarking on a life-changing adventure that will enable you to develop as an individual. What does this mean? It means that travelling does all sorts of wonderful things that basically, makes you an equally wonderful person.

I know how scary it can be to set off into the big wide world on your own, believe me – I’ve done it. But with each trip my confidence has grown immensely, and that’s just one way in which travelling has helped me.
How can traveling help you?

It pushes you out of your comfort zone

In a good way.

What is the comfort zone? “ a psychological state in which things feel familiar to a person and they are at ease and in control of their environment, experiencing low levels of anxiety and stress.”

I imagine my comfort zone as a huge bubble around me. All the things that I do in this bubble are safe and known and I already know all the results of my actions.
Every time you step outside of your bubble it makes you feel scared and uncertain of which results you’ll get. No one likes to feel insecure, this is why we like to stay in your comfort zone. However if you push yourself outside of it, you will see that your bubble will get bigger and bigger.

Travelling is always pushing you outside of your comfort zone because while you travel you can’t always be in your same routine, you will find yourself in situations that you have ever been.

Having a big comfort zone makes you more confident.

Travelling gives you confidence

Travelling makes you far more confident as it forces you to cope with a series of challenging situations, giving you the assurance that you ARE capable of doing things that you perhaps previously thought you weren’t. (it makes your bubble grow)

These situations can come in all forms – meeting new people, getting lost, having your possessions stolen – but the feeling of overcoming each one will always be the same and equally rewarding.

It makes you more interesting 😉

People say that being interested makes you interesting, therefore simply having a desire to see the world makes you a more interesting person.

On top of this imagine all kinds of stories that you will bring back with you, are unique experiences like these that make travelers such fascinating people.

Humans Need Change

Nobody wants to live a dull, monotonous life. But sadly, many of us end up getting sucked in by our daily routine. Change is essential – variety makes us feel alive and engaged and is one of the six fundamental human needs for life coach extraordinaire Tony Robbins. It helps us grow and learn new things, enabling us to discover more about ourselves and our lives.

At school they teach you that learning is to sit passively at your desk and listen to your teacher. I don’t know about you, but I’ve always found that sitting there was a torture. Today science had proven that the most effective way of learning in to be active, not passive.

But travelling is life. Traveling is the opposite of static, is physical and mental movement. You’ll learn actively everyday, from new situations, new people, new culture. Movement is what keeps your brain active and an active mind is creative and will produce positive and productive thoughs.

Your CV will grow

The skills I’m referring to here are ones that, sadly, are not taught in a classroom; but you can learn them through experience. Travelling helps you to mature and become more independent and self-reliant.

It also enables you to develop skills such as communication, time keeping, perseverance and leadership, all of which are invaluable.

Travelling leads to Mindfulness

During your travels you will face obstacles and challenges and you will learn that worrying will not bring you anywhere. The secret is about how you are facing a challenge. You will approach a situation with curiosity and an open mind.

You will learn who you are

Who are you? Sounds like a cliché, doesn’t it?
However think where we live. We live in a world that is in a constant fast change. No one wants to be left behind, so we have learned to run. We run every day, but where do we run? Where is our finish line? What is our life goal?
Many of us are forced into the daily hamster weal, where we are running like crazy but, we are always in the same spot.
Before we start to run we must understand where we want to go. Each one of us has a different life destination because we are unique. This way it is so important to get to know who you are and which passions you have.

How can I do that?

By taking yourselves out of your usual environment. In other words:
getting out of your comfort zone
will make you understand what kind of life will make you truly happy.

Travelling will give you many tools that you can use to make your life a Masterpiece.
