How I become Lady of Glencoe, Scotland

Since I was little, I’ve always dreamed of being a princess or a noble woman who lived during the time of the Renaissance. I’ve always been fascinated by their big magnificent dresses and I think it would be nice to be called Duchess or Lady.

In the past, the title was really important. If you were a noble you were served and treated with unconditional respect because you were rich. Who doesn’t dream of having money and being able to spend it without thinking about how much you need to work for it?
Nowadays, most of the times, being styled with a noble title doesn’t change your life style. However, it would be cool to dress your name with a noble title.

Today I’ve changed my name legally from Mie Manferrari to Lady Mie Manferrari.
Everyone can do it, even YOU!!
Do  you want to become Lord or Lady?

This is how I became a Lady
One morning, in my mailbox, I found a big brown envelope with my name on it. I turn it around and it said that it came all the way from Scotland.
Nature made me really curious, so I couldn’t resist. I walked back home, sat down and (with a lot excitement) I opened the thick envelope.
Inside there was a blue folder with some pieces of paper, some brochures and two certificates.

“Certificate of sale and disposition of Mie Manferrari, Lady of Glencoe”. This certificate says that I own a piece of land in Scotland.

The other piece of paper is a deed.
The deed showed the change of my name and title from Mie Manferrari to Lady Mie Manferrari.

While I was reading I thought that it was a nice prank.
It would be really cool to become a Lady of Glencoe and become the owner of a piece of land of Scotland.

I remembered that a few days earlier my Dutch friend wrote me something like: “check your mail in few days” so I decided to call him.

On skype he confirmed that he bought me 1 sqft of land in Glencoe, Scotland.
It wasn’t a prank! He actually bought me some land in Scotland!

Now I am a proud owner of Scottish land, so I can style myself as Lady,
Lady of Glencoe.

Every owner of a Scottish estate can title himself as a Laird or Lord. A Laird is male that owns land in Scotland, while a woman can style herself as “Lady”. This title isn’t a noble one, but an inheritable property that has an explicit tie to the physical land. This means that no one can style him- or herself with the title of Lord or Lady without owning a piece of Scottish land.

Highland titles is an organization that is financing multiple natural reserves as Glencoe Wood in Scotland, where my property is located. Their goal is to conserve Scotland’s landscape, one square foot at a time. They spend money every year on the upkeep of the land.

With the purchase of every plot, they are able to plant more trees, build more shelters for the animals that inhabit the reserves, and conserve the land for future generations.

It is also possible to go and visit my piece of land (my square foot :P). The land is free to visit whether or not you have purchased a plot. Located close to the historical Glencoe, the reserve is one of two Highland Titles reserves and is also an established 4 star visitor attraction. Every person that purchases a plot from Highland Titles becomes a Laird, Lord or Lady of Glencoe, even if it is only a 1 sqft plot.

Now that I am a lady, the owner of a land of Scotland I must remember to insert it in my will. This thing is real and serious. So if I want that my future son or daughter to inherit my Scottish land, I must write it down in my will as a property.

The prices to buy a plot are not as expensive as I thought. You can buy a 1sqft plot of land in Glencoe Wood for only £30.00 ( $40,00 or €38,00). By buying a plot from Highland Titles you help to reserve and maintain the Scottish landscape. Plus, you may style yourself as a Laird, Lord or Lady! Two awesome benefits.

Now that I am a Lady, I have just one more reason to go visit Scotland… the main reason is to experience the “Hogwarts Express”
